So apparently I’m a bit behind on this news (since it opened in 2004)…

but still!

LOOK AT THESE FREAKIN’ BUILDINGS!

I mean, why shouldn’t buildings look like this?

Behold, the beauty of the Stata Center* at MIT.

What do vegans eat?  Well, when I go to the delicious world of Chipotle, I order the burrito bowl shown on the far left. (ingredients listed at bottom)

Why am I vegan?  Health benefits. Vegan diets typically offer very low saturated fats intake and only negligible amounts of dietary cholesterol.

What’s up with saturated fats and dietary cholesterol?

(The short Wikipedia version): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cholesterol#Dietary_sources

(The longer more in-depth Harvard Dept. of Health version): http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/what-should-you-eat/fats-full-story/index.html   —Explains the differences in types of fats (places more importance on types of fat intake vs cholesterol intake).

Today’s Lesson

Have faith in your own cooking…

.

If you cook something but think it tastes slightly off…perhaps assume it’s a bad ingredient and not that you simply botched the seasoning….

.

I wonder how long it will be until I can eat tofu again….

.

I’ll even settle for being able to type the word without stirring up nausea…

I’ve noticed

Some days I have nerves of steel…. as in, Won’t-Flinch-At-A-Random-Library-Alarm-System-Test nerves of steel.

and then other days…

I jump out of my skin at a stifled sneeze…

So what’s up with that?

(Regardless… how fitting are the ideas of ‘nerves of steel’ and ‘jumping out of your skin’? I mean, they make perfect sense…someone who has nerves of steel isn’t going to jump out of their skin… steel’s just too heavy for such hopping about..

Silence No More

I think crickets would make a great pet. I mean, just think of the benefits:

  • You’d always get to fall asleep to the soothing, rhythmic sounds of nature
  • Eerie stillness would become less so with the sound of their chirping…
  • And Awkward silences would be graced with movie-like cricket-sounds

Although, I suppose…an awkward silence could become even more awkward if the other person had a pet lizard…. that was hungry…

Today’s Question: How strong is a paper clip chain? ….or, better yet…. could such a chain be fashioned strong enough to support a person?

——————————

I searched google trying to find the answer (which, I didn’t, so answering this question has been added to the #NearFutureProjectList) But! I did find this bangin’ paper clip chain.

Here’s the website explaining the feat of building This World-Record Paper Clip Chain:  http://www.graniteschools.org/jr/eisenhower/record_paper_clip_chain.html

I never want to look back on a day and realize I took its pleasantness for granted.

Like this evening… it holds nothing particularly special, just some tea, unread New Scientist Magazines, and some unfinished laundry… but all truly wonderful nonetheless.
